It has become common since the end of the last century to talk of 'new ages' or some kind of 'renaissance' , as people make attempts to heal some of the rifts in philosophical, spiritual ideas and belief systems. I have drawn on a number of key influences and experiences, just as my own teachers and co-conspirators did . In the links below you will find individuals and organizations who are putting their weight - in thought , word and deed - behind making the world a better, healthier, happier place. Energy Medicine East and West

A Natural History of Qi

David Mayor, Pub. Churchill Livingstone 2011 paperback £28.79

Chapter 14, Tim Newman, "Evidencing energy: experiences in acupuncture and therapeutic bodywork (Zero Balancing)"

Tim Newman has contributed a chapter entitled "Evidencing energy : experiences in acupuncture and therapeutic bodywork (Zero Balancing)" to this book, which gathers 25 authors' exploration of Qi. Zero Balancing is presented as a therapeutic approach whereby qi is tangible as a body-felt reality. Fritz Smith's original vision of bridging East and West is given new life through Tim's account of his personal experiences of teaching and practicing ZB. The book also includes insightful chapters on qigong, craniosacral biodynamics, TaiJi, Shiatsu, all extensively referenced. James Oschman, a presenter at ZB Conferences, contributes a valuable foreword to this fascinating compilation.

Some subheadings of Tim's chapter are ZB: Feeling the flow in the bone, Synchronicity and the flow of connectedness, The interpersonal dynamics of energy. He writes of the way ZB touches qi and structure simultaneously and illuminates the vital nature of the therapeutic relationship. Tim, who has taught workshops entitled "The Art of Meaningful Relationship through Touch", concludes by looking at the Vocabulary of Touch and the appreciation of working with qi at interface.

ZB is presented as a way of embodied learning which can return us to an essential reconnection with life - qi and the nature we are one with.
